NEXT STEPs is a National Institute on Aging-funded initiative started in September 2024.
We support high-quality research by advising on research design, sharing best practices, and sharing findings to improve the lives of nursing home residents, their families, and staff.

The NEXT STEPs Network’s resources and tools enable researchers from different disciplines to conduct high quality of clinical trials conducted in nursing homes, including trials focusing on prevention, medical therapeutics, and behavioral and health service interventions.
NEXT STEPs also creates strong linkages among researchers, industry and other critical collaborators, fostering evidence-based innovations on key priorities to to advance care and quality of life for those living in nursing homes, and to benefit their relatives, friends, and those working in nursing homes.
